When Nature Speaks — A Prayer for Nepal
We scar the hills, we fell the trees,
We warm the earth, pollute the seas.
Nature whispers before she roars,
Through melting snow and swollen shores.
And Nepal wept beneath the rain,
Homes swept away, lives torn by pain.
Grieving hearts looked to the sky,
“If God is there, then tell us why?”
Some questions have no answers here,
Some losses shake our faith with fear.
Yet miracles rose from despair,
Lives were saved when hope seemed rare.
Against all odds, some lived to tell,
Through raging waters, they survived the swell.
When hope seemed lost beneath the grey,
Life, like a miracle, found its way.
Perhaps the floods remind us too,
What we do to Earth returns anew.
Respect her rivers, hills and trees,
For humankind cannot command the seas.
So while we’re here, let kindness grow,
Plant trees whose shade we may not know.
Protect the rivers, earth and air,
For what we love deserves our care.
Let progress never mean we take
Until the earth begins to break.
Let mountain, river, tree and sea
Remind us we are one, not three.
For nature is not ours to own,
This earth was never ours alone.
We came as guests and ought to learn
To leave some green when we return.
Love while you can, forgive, be kind,
Leave gentle footprints behind.
For when our journey here is through,
What lives beyond is the good we do.
May Nepal heal, may Nepal rise,
May hope return to grieving eyes.
May God embrace this wounded land,
And help Nepal once more to stand.
May Nepal rise beyond the rain,
May grieving hearts find strength again.
And may these waters leave behind
A deeper wisdom for mankind.
